Modern optical glasses allow the 4-inch f/8.6 doublet objective to deliver a level of color correction on a par with previous lens designs having a greater number of optical elements or made with costly fluorite. Fitted with a 2-inch focuser, the telescope spans the observing gamut from 3^o wide-field sky sweeping to diffraction-limited high-power viewing of the Moon, planets, and multiple stars. The Tele Vue 102 (street price around $2,000) is sold as a basic optical tube assembly. Optional accessories range from 2-inch star diagonals to complete mounts.
