Tele Vue Optics

The  Pronto

Concept: Since the telescope is the heart of any observing system, I felt the multi-purpose concept of our Genesis telescope would fit beautifully into a smaller instrument. Pronto is a fully-featured, American made telescope for naturalists, beginners and those advanced amateurs looking for the finest quality traveling companion. -Al Nagler

Open a new chapter in your observing. - Pronto

Pronto elevates high quality spotting scopes to a new level of versatility. From 9x to over 200x enjoy tack-sharp, widefield viewing. With its 2" focuser, Pronto takes full advantage of the performance of all Tele Vue eyepieces. Its short 480mm focal length provides a 5.5 degree field with the 55mm Plossl! The diffraction limited, 70mm, E.D. objective lens lets Pronto soar to high magnifications like no other tele/spotting scope.

Terrestrial Spotting

"In direct field comparison, the more difficult the situation - long distance, poor light, heavy contrast, whatever - the more clearly the Pronto excelled"- From Better View Desired magazine's review of 17 popular spotting scopes. In addition to Pronto's exceptional image quality, a close focus of 15 ft (closer with optional extension tubes) and interchangeable eye-pieces allow naturalists extended versatility unavailable in fixed or zoomed scopes.

When searching for well hidden subjects, the tremendous field size and edge to edge sharpness of Pronto with Tele Vue Nagler and Panoptic eyepieces may be the difference between making an observation...or missing it. For example, at 30x with the 16mm Nagler eyepiece, Pronto delivers a tack-sharp field of 138 ft at 1000 yards!

For high power spotting, a 7mm Nagler gives the same sharpness at 69x. The long eye relief of Naglers and Panoptics provide especially comfortable viewing.

Astronomical Viewing

While 69x is high power for terrestrial observing, it's a beautiful medium power for star cluster observing. For lunar and planetary observation, add a 2x Barlow to the 7mm Nagler and reveal tiny craters on the moon, or details in Jupiter's belts. Pronto delivers all the resolution possible for an instrument of its size.

The short focal length yields a vast true field of 11 moon diameters, for easy spotting and rich-field Milky Way sweeps.

Photography

Attach a 35mm camera to Pronto with a Tele Vue 2" camera adapter and standard T-ring. The 480mm focal length fills the film frame with stunning clarity at almost 10 times the magnification of a normal 50mm lens. Pronto's fast f/6.8 speed affords you shorter exposure times. - a real advantage in darker lighting conditions.

Mechanical Features

We house Pronto's optics in a magnificent symphony of CNC machined metals. Parts finished in black anodizing and chrome plating complement Pronto's vanilla colored, powder coated tube. These durable finishes provide years of effortless care .

Niceties such as captive lock screws (they can't fall out), a captive sliding dew glare shield and screw-on metal lens cover add to the pleasure of using Pronto.

Most significantly, like all other Tele Vue telescopes, we assemble and test each Pronto in our own facility - ensuring consistency and quality. We take great pride in building Pronto for you, and hope you'll feel the same owning one.

Pronto of your choice

Pronto with 2" mirror star diagonal lets the astro/ terrestrial observer utilize the full optical, magnification and field potentials of the scope. Choose the 1 1/4" mirror star diagonal if you desire its high optical performance without the 2'' model's added weight and cost. Mirror diagonals show a right-side up scene, however, left to right is reversed. For terrestrial observing requiring correct left to right viewing, choose the 1 1/4", 45 degree erecting prism.

Choose Pronto with the diagonal or prism that best fits your interests. Each, and the 2" camera adapter can be purchased separately and will fit all Pronto models.
